Day one, the start
12 January 2005
Day one, well I say day one, I had the idea a while ago, but have just
got round to setting up the site, creating some logos and beginning work
writing the various sections. I have also joined the gym - this is the first
step in this long process.
I thought I would just write down my motivations for writing this site,
especially as I have just promised to do so in the front page.
Well firstly, I work in London, I work reasonably long hours, I don't
consider myself unfit, I have a reasonable build and like most men in their
thirties have what I like to consider to be a 'slight' beer belly. Although
my good friends will argue that it's not 'slight'. So I have made a
conscious decision (especially as its new year and all) to get in shape,
become fitter (as if I'm honest I'm probably not), and ultimately gain a
flat stomach, with perhaps a little definition.
I have tried to do this before, but have failed miserably, namely because
I have not been at all motivated, so I thought, OK, do a web page, find and
research some theories and see whether they work by trying them out, and
then writing about it.
I have looked for a webpage that someone may have done this already, but
either I am inept at searching or I simply could not find any site that gave
actual practical help for loosing a belly.
Ok, that was a quick stab at the motivation, now how am I doing, well
Fitness First offered me a free health check on signing up and some short
taster personal training lessons, so decided to join and go for it. I've
done the health check, and let me tell you this is a bit of an eye opener.
There was a "reach test" which is where you sit with your legs straight
against a bench and then reach your hands forward as far as possible over
the bench. I could manage about 2cms, I have apparently spent too much time
behind a desk and have become extremely my suppleness has disappeared - this
was a little unexpected. Also did a lung capacity test, well lets just say
again I came in below par... Did a little session round the gym and a go on
the cross trainer and now I realise that I have a little bit of a mountain
to climb.....
